HNGD 002 Historical and Contextual Referencing: Artist Retrospective (Distinction)

without comments

For her retrospective, Shannon chose to investigate the life and works of Antoni Gaudi. Her final piece is a stunning, professionally-printed book that includes many of her own photographs and glossy pages – some of which fold open. In the back, she included a small 2009 pocket calendar in four languages.
.
Her development work was laid out on large pages and included a booklet with internet research and a Gaudi CV as well as some pamphlets she picked up from various exhibitions.

without comments

Stephen chose Robert Rauschenberg as the subject of his artist retrospective. Tate Modern was his chosen venue for the exhibition.
.
As with the decade assignment for this unit, Stephen submitted a wide array of background research leading up to his final piece which is a 20-page booklet from cover to cover. The work, including over 50 pages of initial planning, was submitted in a professional binder (and a heavy one at that!)

HNGD 002 Historical and Contextual Referencing: The Artist Retrospective (Distinction)

with 2 comments

This is another interpretation of the artist retrospective assignment for HNGD 002. Michelle took a look at the life and work of Swiss colour theorist Johannes Itten. She chose Tate Modern as the venue for her exhibition.

Along with a sizable binder full of printed research materials, Michelle submitted a colourful, fold-out booklet measuring approximately 4 x 6 inches and her bibliography as follows:

HNGD 002 Historical and Contextual Referencing: The Artist Retrospective (Distinction)

without comments

Rosie chose the infamous Tim Burton to focus on for her artist retrospective assignment in HNGD 002. After researching his life and work, she had to put together a 1000-word exhibition booklet that included Burton’s work and captions she would include, a bit about the historical context and era in which he worked, his influences and a bibliography. It should also include the layout of the gallery which, in Rosie’s case, was the Serpentine in London.
.
Again, this unit focuses on research and should be submitted with a folder of evidence and a bibliography.
.
Her work on this assignment landed Rosie a distinction and a recommendation to get this booklet printed out professionally which she is planning to do for her portfolio.
