Graphic Design at UCK

A shell was Clare’s object of choice to study and draw in various ways for the second project in Unit 7. She had to re-create the object a few times in various ways after drawing it normally first. To do this, she used a variety of pens to make lines of different widths and introduced colour at the end. After exploring her options, Clare was able to develop a final, hand drawn graphic solution for the shell.

As in assignment 1, Clare’s work was professionally presented in a black portfolio and each page clearly labelled.

Clare chose a piece called Ocean Park 2 by Christian Ward for her drawing exercise in Part 1.

She then went on to the graphite exercise where she was required to reproduce the drawing “Il quarto stato”, 1898, by Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo using a drid.

In her still life exercise, she drew a flower which she later developed for her final still life piece adding colour and enlarging it to a full size page.

Everything was neatly presented in a nice black portfolio and included the required analysis exercise report.

Eira has worked through the Microdoft logo design project testing out various ideas and including her comments on what works and what doesn’t for each one. She tried altering the shape, the texture and the colour of the design to come up with something new and original. Her final design and the stages she took to get to that point are posted below in the order they were presented:
