HNGD 006 Ideas in Context: Corporate Identity for a Chain Restaurant

For this project, Zoe chose to create a new identity for the chain restaurant Cafe Rouge. She studied their original menu, wine list, placemat and matchbox and those of other similar restaurants. From there, she designed some new material for Cafe Rouge. Alongside these items and examples from other establishments, Zoe submitted a statement explaining her choices and her development work.

HNGD 006 Ideas in Context: Corporate Identity for a Preview Night

HNGD 001 Computer Applications in Art and Design: Microsoft Logo

Ewan had to renew the Microsoft logo for assignment 1. After a bit of research on the history of the company he had to design variations of the old logo by keeping some of its characteristics, integrating the old with the new. HNGD 013 Copywriting for Advertising: Impreial War Museum Camouflage Exhibition

Clare’s task for the second assignment of this module was to design an advertising campaign to promote an exhibition called Camouflage taking place at the Imperial War Museum in London. The target, being  Londoners and visitors to London age 10-80, is  wide-ranging and essential information of the exhibition details along with a bit of background is given in the brief.

Her goal was to tap into the creative element of this exhibition and attract people who would not normally think to go to a war museum.

HNGD 013 Copywriting for Advertising: Relaunch Schlitz Beer

Clare’s task for this assignment was to develop an advertising concept to relaunch Schlitz beer. The copy had to be in the style of Raymond Chandler’s narrative as spoken by Philip Marlow – tough, very male and colourful.

Working with the given information that Schlitz is traditionally a working class beer and knowing she was aiming to target a younger audience including the slogan, “The beer that made Milwaukee famous”, Clare had to design imagery to match her narrative.

The other criteria was that she had to develop a questionaire and include a 500-word evaluation of her work. A short background of the company was provided in the brief.

HNGD 017 Typographic Skills: TV Sports Promotion

This assignment asked Derrick to create some promotional  material for a new BBC2 series “Sporting Quote Unquote”. It had to be hand drawn with no photographic images and include one of a select number of quotes. Derrick chose to use the quote, “Racing is 99& boredom and 1% terror” by Geoff Brabham, an Australian racing driver.

HNGD 017 Typographic Skills: TV Sports Promotion Newsletter (Distinction)

Derrick’s task for the first Typographic Skills assignment was to design a TV sports promotion newsletter.
.
There were specific quidelines for this assignment as follows:

You are asked to design an A4 page for a BBC newsletter. This will be for someone else to produce. You do not have the use of a computer.

You can use a grid of your choice (2, 3 or 4 columns).

The heading reads ‘ New TV Sports Programme – ‘Sporting Quote, Unquote’ – this should be traced in.

There are four hundred words of copy, set in Baskerville typeface – indicated by ‘tramlines’ ‘emming’ or ‘rendered’ – size and leading to your choice.

One picture which should be traced in. The picture should have a caption.

Include any other decorative elements – rules, bars, etc

A ‘BBC’ logo should appear somewhere on the newsletter.

All this should be hand rendered in pencil on white (layout) paper.

You should indicate the size, style and setting of the type used.
