HNGD 003 Professional Studies: Design Business Structures
Stephen’s second assignment for this unit takes a look at the structures inside of the design industry. In order to collect some first hand research, Stephen interviewed two professionals as part of his assignment. It was presented neatly in a binder with a cover, research and illustrated essay.

HNGD 003: Professional Studies: Scenarios (Distinction)
In this first assignment, Stephen was presented with ten ’scenarios’ that he might encounter in the graphic design industry. These ranged from legislation, ethics, professional contact, social responsibility, etc. Stephen then had to produce an in-depth analysis of each scenario and organise these in a folder along with his research materials.

The following pages are his analysis of the scenarios.

A Few Artsy Events
We just got posters in the mail from the University of Gloucestershire to hang on the college bulletin boards so I wanted to pass on the info for these events in case anyone is interested.
The first one is called The Independent Line. It is a “one day symposium exploring autonomies and alternatives for the new generation of narrative illustrators.” It takes place Wednesday, 15th October and features Paul Gravett, Steve Braund, Jackie Batey, Damien Gascoigne and Benoit Jacques. Chaired by Chris Mullen. The address is University of Gloucestershire, Pittyville Studios, Albert Road, Cheltenham.
The other event, the Cheltenham Illustration Awards 2008, takes place from October 16 – 31 at the same location. It is open daily from 10 – 4. It is called Tall Tales: Exhibition and features narrative illustration from students, emerging talent and professionals.
