HNGD 002 Historical and Contextual Referencing: The Decades Assignment

with 2 comments

One of Rosie’s assignments for HNGD 002 was to choose two decades which she had to research. Her task was to draw conclusions about the world’s historical events of these decades and how they influenced art and design movements then present this information in a graphical essay of approximately 1000 words. The main purpose of this assignment was to test research skills. Rosie’s well-written assignment (which you probably can’t read from such small jpeg images) was accompanied by a great example of a long Harvard Referencing bibliography.
.
If anyone can tell me how to make these images larger without blurring the words, go for it. But you can get the general idea here.
.
Rosie chose to look at 1910-1920 and 1970-1980.

And there you have it.
One example of what the decade assignment for HNGD 002 could look like.

Note that with this assignment, you should also be submitting a folder full of research.
The more the better!

  1. Wow, this is brilliant stuff, Rosie – thanks! Looking at an example is definitely worth a thousands words of explanation, in terms of picturing what we need to do for this assignment. So, thanks for sharing it!

I just wanted to post to say I’ve tried a few enlargement options for this, and the most readable one I’ve found is the screen zoom that’s built into the Mac operating system. Hold down Control while you scroll in and out with the scroll wheel on the mouse, and it magnifies the screen to your heart’s content. I found it a bit more readable that way. Just in case that helps anyone…

  2. Thanks Ewan :) Glad you’ve found it useful. I think this blog is a brilliant idea for helping us envisage what standard of work we need to work towards!
